Approval for Request for Humanities/Social Science Electives

If you wish to take a class to satisfy either a humanities or social science and it is not listed on the approved list of electives, you will need permission from the Academic Dean, Dr. Larry Shuman (323 Benedum Hall).

First, discuss the course with the Undergraduate Coordinator. If he agrees with your request, fill out a request form -include a copy of the description of the class (both available in the main office-749 Benedum), and take it to the Associate Dean's Office for consideration. Contact Dr. Debski (412-648-1638) one week later to find out if your course was approved.

In general, independent projects and introductory courses are not accepted.

Request forms can be picked up from the Undergraduate Secretary (744 Benedum). Please note that only upper-level courses will be considered. Please do not request any class from a department which is not on the approved list (e.g., Administration of Justice).
