About Us Living In Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh is an ideal place to study civil engineering. At the University of Pittsburgh, we are surrounded by many stunning and creative examples of civil engineering's real-world applications.

From the three rivers, to the beautiful skyline, to bridges that connect it all, Pittsburgh is the place to be for civil engineering. Situated in an urban setting, Pitt offers its students the advantage of interacting and networking with prominent practicing professional civil engineers.

Living here as a student or a member of our faculty, you will find that there is plenty to see and do.  On campus, visit the Carnegie Museums of Art and Natural History. Adjacent to campus is Schenley Park, a 465 acre park, home to skating rinks, tennis courts, trails and a golf course.

Downtown offers its cultural district, home to ballets, musicals, plays and symphonies.  Nearby Squirrel Hill, Shadyside and Bloomfield offer ethnic and traditional dining for any budget.  For nightlife, experience Station Square, the Southside, Shadyside or the Strip District.  Find out more

Of course, the City of Pittsburgh offers three professional sports teams, plus the University of Pittsburgh's Panther football at Heinz Field and basketball at the new Petersen Events Center.
