Professional Interests

Dr. Stout's major interest is in the environmental microbiology of Legionnaires' disease and Legionella pneumophila. Research in these areas includes the study of this and other waterborne bacterial pathogens in building water distribution systems. Specific study involves molecular typing techniques, biofilm formation, intracellular antimicrobial susceptibility testing and susceptibility to new disinfection methods.
