News Graduate Program In Transportation EngineeringThe University of Pittsburgh Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is pleased to introduce a new graduate program in the area of Transportation Engineering. A number of studies have predicted a significant engineering talent gap in both the public and private sectors of the Transportation Engineering field, as the number of new graduates possessing the requisite skills in this area is not keeping up with the growth in the field and the impending retirement of large numbers of practicing Transportation Engineers. The University is reestablishing its educational efforts through this new Graduate Program to help meet the workforce development needs of the Transportation Engineering industry. The University of Pittsburgh is particularly well positioned to help meet these workforce development needs through this program. Some of the school's specific strengths include:
The Transportation Engineering program consists of a balanced curriculum with the following three focus areas: Planning, Design and Operations. A sufficient selection of courses will be offered so the Program can be completed within two years.
