Faculty Positions in Electrical Engineering

The Electrical Engineering Department at The University of Texas at San Antonio invites applications for a tenure-track/tenured faculty positions in the area of: Embedded Control Systems and a position for the Jeff Clarke Professorship preferable in computer engineering area. Required qualifications for the position are a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related areas and should demonstrate research and teaching capability. The Distinguished Professorship applicants should have significant post graduate experience in academia or industry, an established and recognized research program in his/her area of specialization, and previous academic experience including graduate and undergraduate teaching and academic program development.

The Department of Electrical Engineering offers the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees supporting a dynamic and growing program with over 500 undergraduate and 120 graduate students. The research activities and experimental facilities have been well-supported by various Federal research and infrastructure grants.

The University is the largest public university in south Texas serving approximately 25,000 students, with courses offered at its 1604 campus and the Downtown campus located 20 minutes away. The College of Engineering is presently undergoing a major expansion with a new 220,000 square feet Engineering/Biotechnology building and is going through a $300 million capital expansion. The city of San Antonio has a population of over one million and is known for its rich Hispanic culture, historic attractions, affordable housing, and excellent medical facilities. Substantial computer industry is located in San Antonio and Austin, located 75 miles away. Nearby higher education and research institutions include UT Health Science Center and Southwest Research Institute.

Responsibilities include research, teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and program development. Courses are offered at the 1604 and Downtown campuses and some evening classes may be required. Salary and start-up supporting packages for the positions are highly competitive.
