Industrial Engineering: University of Pittsburgh Swanson School of Engineering

Undergraduate Admissions Information

Freshman Admission

Requirements for admission as a freshman are uniform for the entire School of Engineering. For more infomation, please contact the Freshman Program.

Transfer Students

In general, tranfer students are required to have a minimum of a 2.5 QPA. However, each application is considered on its individual merit.

Special Student Admission

Special student status is a category that will allow individuals who are not students in any school in the University to take courses within the program. Although there can be a number of reasons why such cases might exist, the primary use of this status is for students who are enrolled in engineering programs at other Universities who may wish to complete one or a very few courses at Pitt.

Applications for Special Student Enrollment are available in the Office of Administration, 253 Benedum Hall. Each of these applications are individually evaluated relative to course prerequisites, the home institution of the student, QPA, etc. The undergraduate administrator will evaluate all such applications.

Please contact Dr. Bursic at 412-624-9837 or via e-mail to set up an appointment for an informal, unofficial evaluation of your prospects for admission.

Offical admissions must be conducted through Pitt's Admissions Department at 412-624-7164 or 7488.
