Professional Interests

Charles C. Hwang's main research interests are in radiation heat transfer, combustion, and multiphase flow. Other areas of interest include boiling and condensing heat transfer, health transfer in fires, and thermal system analysis.

Curriculum Vitae

Hwang joined our department in 1968 upon completing his doctoral studies at Harvard University. He also has a master's degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and industrial experience in research engineering. He is a member of ASME and the Combustion Institute. He was awarded a NASA-ASEE Summer Faculty Fellowship, 1972, and the E.F. Obert Outstanding Paper Award for "Advanced Energy Systems" sessions at ASME WAM '87 (Coauthors: A.S. Kott and J.H. May). He has been awarded two U.S. patents.
