Undergraduate MEMS 1043Senior Design Project(3 units) Description: A major project involving literature search, planning, design, fabrication, experimentation, analysis, technical report, poster presentation, and presentation at a technical symposium is performed by a small team of students under the direction of a faculty advisor and corporate advisor on a project presented by the corporate advisor. Prerequisites: Senior standing. Textbook: Mechanical Measurements, 6th edition, T.G. Beckwith, R.D. Marangoni, and J.H. Lienhard, Prentice Hall. Course Objective: This course is designed to give seniors in mechanical engineering the ability to bridge the gap between being a student engineer and being a practicing engineer by assigning the students a semi-independent experimental engineering project requiring a team situation involving literature, research, experimentation, a final report, poster presentation, and an oral presentation at a technical symposium. Course Schedule: The groups meet independently except for the following mandatory meeting times.
Class/Laboratory Schedule: Seven 50-minute periods per week. Professional Component Contributions: Engineering science and design Relationship to Program Objectives: 1a, 1b, 2a, 2b, 2c, 3a, 3b, 3c, 4 Prepared by: Roy D. Marangoni Date Prepared: April 11, 2005 |
More than 2,300 undergraduates and graduates combined are enrolled at the School of Engineering.
