An objective of BAMPRI is to compensate for the reduction of in-house research and development by industry that has occurred in the past decade. The institute develops and implements the latest product and processing technology for producers, fabricators, and end-users.
The Atom Field Ion Microscopy Laboratory is a unique, highly sophisticated research facility for investigating the structure and chemistry of solids on an atomic scale. The installation includes three units for field ion microscopy and atom probe analysis.
